Sunny and pleasant

Work was very stop-and-go yesterday. I’m back to trying to find a new SM to replace the fired one. Worked on some client projects. It was the first day in probably six months where I didn’t send out any client pitches or LOIs.

I’d been up the night before far past the point of diminishing return working on some client projects. One is done and out slightly before deadline. I feel good about it. They were excited to receive it and have already cut the check. It has to travel across the country to reach me, but this experience has been wonderful. Another project — let’s just say it has an interesting set of unnecessary challenges when it should be very straightforward and leave it at that.

Worked on contest entries. I’m in good shape on the first one, and ready to handle the entries on the other two contests as soon as they arrive.

The weather was lovely, so Tessa and I went outside with the script and spent some quality time preparing for rehearsal.

I edited the Powerpoint presentation we’re using in the play — suddenly, PowerPoint makes sense.

Early dinner and a Writers Center Executive Committee Meeting, then dashed home for rehearsal at the house. We focused on lines and beats and motivations and had a good giggle session.

I drank coffee during rehearsal, so I was wired.

I prepped for today, which opens a new chapter in my life — will fill you in tomorrow. I woke up at 5, because I’m so excited. Yoga, meditation, a little writing, but I’m unfocused on the writing, and focusing my energy on today.

I still have to finish my taxes this weekend. I want to get them out the door late Monday or early Tuesday and not have to think about them.

Lots to catch up on tomorrow, I am sure.

Tues. Dec. 17, 2013: Writing, Baking, Meetings

Full Moon
Jupiter Retrograde
Cloudy and cold

Check out the interview about Killion Slade’s new release on A Biblio Paradise here.

Busy day yesterday. Got some work done in the morning, some writing done on a script. Headed to the Writers Center, where we had sort-n-shred day, going through the archival boxes, deciding what to keep, what to toss, and learning a lot.

I’d made mac and cheese for lunch, which was a nice break.

We did some more sort-n-shred in the afternoon, then I hopped over to Osterville Library to work for a bit before heading home.

I had barely time to catch my breath and do some yoga before heading out the door for the Executive Committee meeting in Sandwich. Nearly got lost in the dark, but the full moon helped, and I found where I was going, eventually.

Meeting was good and lively. We have a group that’s active, rather than passive. We want to get things done, not talk about doing them some day.

But I’ve got a long list of things to get done!

Home, baked spice cupcakes for tonight. Fell into bed, exhausted.

Up early this morning, yoga, worked on a short story. Headed out to Wheldon Library to work, then have some errands to run, then back home to frost cupcakes and head out to the NMLC party.

Picked up a book I hoped would be an entertaining mystery, but it was dull and badly written, so back it goes. Don’t have the time to waste on badly written books unless I’m being paid to read them.

Started reading Kathryn Hughes’s biography of George Eliot. Very interesting, and makes me eager to get going reading and re-reading, in some cases, her work.

Off to work.

Wed. Nov. 6: Juggling Writing and Reading

Wednesday, November 6, 2013
Waxing Moon
Mercury Retrograde
Cloudy and cold

Just realized I didn’t blog yesterday. I went to vote instead. It was local election time, town council and the like. It was amazing how long the lines were. People take their voting very seriously here.

Got out some pitches, worked with students, continued with an editing project, negotiated for a big editing project that should start in two weeks (I won’t count on it until the deposit arrives), worked on adapting a prose piece for television, and continued working on typing up and fleshing out material from the development notebook.

Getting some work done on the novella this morning before tackling some articles and getting back on the other stuff.

I’ve got a lot of reading to do in the next few days, some for reviews, some for research, and some because I’m deconstructing a series of books by one particular author to learn why she’s so popular.

Have a meeting tonight of the Writers Center Board. Which means I have to be very, very focused today!
