Waning Moon
Pluto Retrograde
Jupiter Retrograde
Uranus Retrograde
Sunny and pleasant

I felt quite accomplished yesterday morning — interview requests out, restaurant research for the trip, caught up on email, first 1k of the day, signed up for two seminars, etc., etc., all before 9 AM.

I was set to go to the library by 10 AM to do some research in preparation for next week’s interviews. I walk across town — to find that the library’s hours have now changed and they don’t open until NOON on Tuesdays. So the library’s hours are wonky, the post office’s hours are wonky — every time I want to do something, I have to go to a different town. That’s ridiculous, considering we are a suburb of NYC and should have fully functional institutions such as a post office and a library.

I should have just gone to Greenwich, which is actually open during reasonable hours.

Anyway, I packed up a bunch of stuff, drove to White Plains to Target for more bins, and packed up more stuff. I have to drive the bins over to storage today — there’s no place for them in the apartment. But the top bunk bed from childhood, which has served as a catch-all for far too many years, is now empty. I still have to tackle the bottom bunk and whatever’s hidden UNDER the beds, but at least I’ve accomplished something.

The cats are not amused.

I ended up back in White Plains last night, out to dinner with a friend at a place called Asian Temptation. We were seated right in front of the koi pond, which was lovely, and the food is exquisite, but I could have lived without the techo-pop playing in the background. It was a nice evening out

I came back in time to watch WAREHOUSE 13, which worked my last nerve. Sexist (the only cliche missed was the two women pulling each other’s hair), and again, they spend a lot of time setting up, and then run out of time and just stop. I want to know the WHY, not just the WHAT behind each object. The situational characters weren’t developed at all — you can develop a character with a couple of lines or a single gesture. And to have the antagonists say, “It’s not about the money” when the money was the key to what they needed was just delusional. Also, the two protags caused harm by simply walking away at the end instead of trying to help the antagonists, for whom we (and they) were supposed to feel sympathy. Nice little nod to TWILIGHT ZONE in the Artie B-story, but again, it dissipated tension instead of building it — the placement of his scenes are weak — and there’s too much that’s not even a tease for future developments, it’s just put out there and left. They’ve got one more episode and, if I’m still frustrated next week, I’m not watching anymore. I’m really disappointed. There’s so much room for inventiveness here, and the piece isn’t living up to it.

Decent but not great writing session this morning. I need to make a couple of trips to storage, solidify an interview time for next week, do some work on a client project, and wrap up a few things before I leave tomorrow. My mom is speaking in front of the City Council tonight asking the City to protect the seniors from the scumbag landlord. I’m going with her to support her.

Not sure if I’ll get to blog, so I scheduled a few posts while I’m gone.

Elsa seems back to normal. The cats are upset by the packing and chaos, and are Very Busy whenever something is moved.

  1. Our post office and library has weird hours as well. I don’t understand them, either. It sounds as though your packing and transitioning of your things is going well. Wishing you and your Mom good luck at the CIty Council Meeting. Glad to hear Elsa is feeling better, as well.
