The entire bailout situation is just embarrassing. I don't believe any corporation should get taxpayer money. If the people in charge cannot manage a profitable businesss and step aside.

I've been on the fence on the bailout due to the fact that I've seen my hometown area die off thanks to jobs heading to China, Japan, India, etc. But no one bailed out Edsel. It failed. If we want to remain competitive, we have to change our business model. Boards have to force accountability on their own CEOs, which is a tough sell to a board comprised of nothing but CEOs. As for the products, good enough is no longer good enough. We have the ability to create phenomenal products and still allow for profit. Unfortunately, corporate greed speaks louder. Until there's a dose of reality - until the government says "Tough nuts" to the CEOs waiting for the handouts - it won't change. I don't care how much regulation, restrictions on the cash or any other method of accountability is forced on them, they're going to find ways to justify overspending. And if they can't fly coach once in a while, they get nothing.
